Ontario update—law enforcement in Ontario has dealt a serious blow to the criminal element operating within the towing industry. In two separate task force operations in July, dozens were arrested and more than 200 hundred charges laid.
While this is good news for law enforcement, and to some extent the towing industry (i.e. removing these individuals from our industry), the media releases all shared the same focus and tone: “criminals in the towing industry.”
So, this article is dedicated to the hundreds of professional tow operators in Ontario that ARE NOT CRIMINALS!

- Thank you for risking your own life daily to make sure motorists are removed from harm’s way as quickly as possible.
- Thank you for the simple tow that means so much to someone needing their vehicle brought to the repair shop.
- Thank you for the tow that gets that delivery truck off the road to expedite traffic flow and minimize the chance of a secondary collision.
- Thank you for standing shoulder-to- shoulder with fire fighters in an effort to extricate someone trapped in a vehicle.
- Thank you for completing the impound tow that gets a drunk driver off the road.
- Thank you for offering your equipment or facility to help train fire fighters, EMS, or police on auto ex, crime investigations, etc.
- Thank you for the countless other daily activities that keep our economy moving.
Make no mistake—if towers parked their rigs for a week, the country’s entire economy would shut down.
Thank you to all the professional tow company owners who struggle day to day to keep their operations moving in an honest fashion when we are constantly bombarded with bad press. THANK YOU! 🍁
